Ohhh the Kaotica Eyball, what a beautiful product it is. As the saying goes, “ If God made anything better he kept it to himself ”. Okay enough posturing, the question is what is it and what does it do, which was the same thing I asked when I first seen and heard of it. The Kaotica Eyeball boast itself as being a cost friendly solution for project studios that have a small budget and horrible acoustics. Essentially the eyeball is a small recording booth that fits right over your microphone, (yes you heard right). Ok maybe not a recording booth, but it is a reflection filter that does just that, Filters out the reflections during the recording process. I recently picked up one for my project studio to see what the hype was about, and I was instantly blown away. In an untreated the room this product does the job it’s meant to do, but in room with just minimum treatment the Kaotica Eyeball soars. Not only does it filter the reflections it also boost the incoming signal, given you quality recordings. During my testing of the product I decided to test it with my laptop with external laptop fan sitting in close proximity on the microphone. To my disbelief, the recording was crisps, and noise free. This is a product I recommend for in artist, producer, and engineer working in their project studio. With the eyeball you don’t have to focus on all the technical stuff, and freely create. For a $200 price tag this product is worth every cent.
